Hamilton County Bar Association Executive Meeting Minutes

January 8, 2007

 

  1. Meeting:  Called to order at noon at Hamilton Restaurant.
  2. Committees:  One of the goals discussed by the Board for the new year is to reestablish the committees. 
  3. Social Committee:  This committee will oversee the golf outing, chili cook off, baseball game, Third Thursdays.  Board discussed potential members.  Bob Becker to check with Joel Hand, Bruce Boje, and Jim Crum regarding organizing the golf outing.  Jenna Stewart to check with Sean Bluementhal and Brian Zaiger regarding organizing the Chili Cook off.  Jenna Stewart to check with Jenn Hess regarding scheduling the Third Thursday locations at least one month in advance to give better notice to the members. 
  4. Judicial Advisory Committee:  Brad Banks to check with Rodney Sarkovics regarding chairing this committee.
  5. Nominating Committee:  Jon Terry to check with Stephanie Gookins regarding continuing to Chair the Nominating Committee.
  6. CLE Committee:  Jerry Barr to check with Erick Manterfield and Judge Hughes regarding this committee.
  7. HCBA Helper:  Bob Becker to check with Janie Manley regarding her interest in assisting the Board with its duties.
  8. Photo Composite:  Brad Banks to send out email regarding whether people received their photo package.  Jenna Stewart to include this in the newsletter as well.
  9. Public Relations:  Brad Banks to write a press release summarizing Bob Becker’s year end comments and to check with Jeanatte Kassebaum regarding her interests in assisting with PR.  Brad also to assist with taking photos at events.
  10. Name tags:  Jerry Barr to get name tags and markers to bring to the meetings and events.
  11. Next Lunch Meeting:  Noon at Lutz’s on Feb. 22, 2007.
  12. Certificates of Appreciation:  John Terry to get the same to utilize to recognize those that help or assist the Bar in some way.
  13. Goals for upcoming year:  John Terry to look into necessary paperwork for the organization to incorporate.  Jerry Barr to get quotes for liability insurance for the Bar association.
  14. Speakers:   possible speakers were discussed for lunch meetings.  Included were:  JLAP; Judges; Heartland Pro Bono; Guardian Ad Litem representative; and someone representing the new Juvenile facility (Jeff Marcum or Bob Bragg).  Bob Becker to work on this.
  15. Next Meeting:  Feb. 12 at noon at Hamilton Restaurant.
