MESSAGE FROM JACK HITTLE AND CHURCH, CHURCH HITTLE & ANTRIM

Dear Members of the Hamilton County Bar Association,

Many of you may recall our former associate, Gayle Shanehsaz, who passed away at age 33, on August 23, 1992. She died from brain cancer, tragically only after having a chance to practice law for a year or two.

Following her death, many people made generous contributions to a trust fund for her son, Abe. Abe was only three or four years old at the time.

We wanted everyone in the Bar Association to know that based upon the original contributions, and the additional contributions made by our firm in the years following, we have been able to establish a trust fund which has assisted Abe with his college expenses. Abe started IUPUI this last fall.

The trust fund is in excess of $30,000.00, and will be a very substantial part of the payment of his college expenses. Abe is a great young man, and I wanted everyone to know about his success. Abe does not really recall much about his mother, but his trust fund allowed us an opportunity to share with Abe not only some of our memories of Gayle, but we also shared with him all of the numerous memorials and notes which we received following her death. I think it was impressive for him to know how well thought of his mother had been in the very short time she was with us. Thank for all of your support.

2008 SUMMER BASEBALL OUTING

Wednesday, June 25 beginning at 12:30, Indianapolis Indians vs. Buffalo Bisons. Bring in or mail your reservations and checks to Judge Pfleging, Suite 384, Hamilton County Government and Judicial Center, Noblesville, Indiana 46060. The cost is $26.00 per person and includes your game ticket as well as the picnic.

“LAWYERS HELPING FAMILIES”

“Lawyers Helping Families” is a Hamilton County project for indigent parties in family law cases. The project meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Jury Assembly room, Suite 313. Hearings are scheduled in Superior Court 3 at 5:30 p.m. and clients utilize attorney volunteers who enter Limited Appearances for that evening’s hearing only.

Attorneys are encouraged to refer potential Hamilton County clients to the program, including those cases where income disparity between parties is an issue, in cases where Hamilton County residents are proceeding pro se in family law cases, and income eligible clients with uncontested family law matters.

JUVENILE LAW SECTION MEETING

The Juvenile Law Section’s next meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in the Jury Assembly room. Snacks will be provided and the speaker will be Laura Green from Family Works. For more information, contact Jenna Stewart at stewart_jenna@hotmail.com.
