PRO BONO LAWYER RECOGNITION

The Hamilton County judges will recognize attorneys who have participated in the county pro bono program at a ceremony in the Historic Courtroom on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 4:30 p.m.  All are invited to attend.

 

Attorneys who have taken pro bono cases are encouraged to contact Laurie Boyd at Heartland Pro Bono Council at 317-614-5307 so that they may be recognized.

 

SEMINAR: Ethical Considerations for Estate and Family Business Succession Planners

Eric A. Manterfield, Partner at Krieg DeVault will be the speaker at a seminar entitled “Ethical Considerations for Estate and Family Business Succession Planners,” to be held Thursday, November 9, 2006 from noon to 1 p.m.  The seminar will be held at Riverview Hospital in the Krieg DeVault room located on the lower level of the Women’s Pavilion.  The cost will be $25 and lunch will be provided.

NEIGHBORHOOD CHRISTIAN LEGAL CLINIC IN HAMILTON COUNTY

Joshua Abel, Staff Attorney with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic addressed the members gathered at the August HCBA meeting.  Mr. Abel explained that the mission of NCLC is to provide legal services to individuals and families below the poverty line. Attorney volunteers are needed to perform intake functions and/or take cases.  Attorney volunteers may choose to perform intake only which does not require any particular legal expertise.  Visit www.nclegalclinic.org for further details.

 

Locally, NCLC offers intake each Thursday from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville, 1207 Conner St, Noblesville.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Joshua Abel at 317-686-1766 or jabel@nclegalclinic.org.

PRACTICE POINTER

Form for filing Income Withholding Orders (IWOs) for Child Support

The Indiana Support Enforcement Tracking System (ISETS) number as well as the correct mailing address for the Central Collection Unit must be included on all IWOs.

 

Court Administration has created an IWO form, written in plain language, for the use of pro se parties that contains spaces for the required information. Attorneys are also encouraged to use this form and a copy of this form can be obtained from the Court Administration Office, (317) 776-8589.
