SUCCESSFUL CHILI COOK-OFF
The 2012 HCBA Chili Cookoff was a great success! The Elk’s Club of
Noblesville set the stage and provided a television to watch March Madness.
The winner was Campbell Kyle Proffitt with an excellent submission by
Russell Cate. Supposedly, there was beef filet and beer in the recipe. The
Best Presentation trophy was earned by Seamus Boyce of Church Church Hittle
Antrim. A big thank you to the judges, Gail Bardach, Paul Felix and Greg
Caldwell. See y’all next year.

HCBA MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION
The 12th Annual HCBA Mock Trial competition was a great success! Carmel
High School was the winner in the case of United States v. Gayle Storm. The
students prepared this murder case for trial and performed five preliminary
rounds before competing in the elimination tournament.
The competition would not be possible without the assistance of so many bar
members. Thanks to court administration and the deputies for working with
the HCBA and allowing use of the courtrooms. A special thanks to the
attorneys who acted as individual team attorney advisors – Scott Smith, Bob
Becker, Russell Cate, Natalie Conn, Tim Hixson, Alicia Adcock, Sam Robinson,
Rodney Sarkovics, Kevin Klausing, Rebecca Eimerman, Gregg Gordon, Tom
Aycock, and Steve Earnhart.
The HCBA would additionally like to recognize all the attorneys and judges
who served as mock trial judges for the competition. They were: Judge Rick
Campbell, Judge William Hughes, Prosecutor Lee Buckingham, Magistrate David
Najjar, Magistrate Will Greenaway, Commissioner Todd Ruetz, Judge Brian
Poindexter, Judge Paul Felix, David McPherson, Wendy Clar, Joe Ruppert, Dori
